Our story

We are a social enterprise with a simple yet ambitious aim – to support and change the lives of some of Sheffield’s most vulnerable and disenfranchised people.

We provide structured hospitality training and paid work experience to people who have been marginalised by a lack of access to rights, resources, and opportunities. For many trainees, Blend Kitchen is their first ever experience of paid employment. We are here to give them back their dignity and pride (and a future) whilst challenging societal misconceptions and prejudices.

Finding a place to call home

After two years at our previous location on Pinstone Street, Blend Kitchen had to find another home following plans to redevelop the city centre.

Enter Twinkl (and lots of other local businesses whose unswerving belief in us meant pledging pro bono and discounted services). Our not-for-profit restaurant and events space now sits in the ground-floor unit of Twinkl’s head office at Ward’s Exchange – the gateway to fashionable foodie strip Ecclesall Road.

Award-winning creative agency Front have developed an entirely new brand concept for our new home and worked with nationally acclaimed creative agency 93ft to fit out a best-in-class, fully accessible and socially distanced-ready venue.
